Let it Snow

We have a certain member of the family who feels a little left out of everything because she's the baby.  She HATES when someone goes outside and she gets stuck in the house.  Well, this time she made sure she got in on the action.  Let there be no confusion- Lexi is in no way deterred by any weather condition.  Outside is where she wants to be!

You can't blame her when there are giant snowballs involved:

Everybody smile!  Um, Lexi?  You okay?  Can someone help out Lexi please?

Ballerinas

My little dancers had their first ballet performance this weekend!

Seriously, these are the cutest little ballerinas you ever did see:

I love these two get so share so many things.  Jacob and I beamed with pride watching our little ladies perform.  Way to go girls!

Ready?

You ready for winter?

That's what you get...

On a shopping excursion last week with Ty and Lexi, I wanted to squeeze in just one more stop before it was time to head home.  I knew they both were getting tired and hungry.  But just one- I just needed to make one more stop!

So perhaps it really was my own fault I ended up spending an extra $5.50 on peanut butter bars I had no intention of buying:

One word for you:  Ty.  Ty took matters into his own hands.

So Britt, that's what you get.  That's what you get when you take a hungry toddler in for just one more stop.

JOY

The speaker in Sacrament meeting on Sunday added a little funny in his talk that made me giggle.  He was quoting 2 Nephi 2:23 which talks about Adam and Eve.  Had they remained in the Garden, "they would have had no children...having no joy, for they knew no misery.."  He chuckled as he agreed that children are often synonymous with misery.  And well, considering he and his wife have 8 children under the age of 12,  it's understandable!

Let's be honest, children are work.  A LOT of work.  And while we're on the honesty kick, we'll just add that parenting is often a bit on the miserable, pull-your-hair-out, exasperating, blood-boiling side.  That's why all the parents in the audience giggled along with me!  However,  I love that in the scripture the word used first is the word joy.  Yes, hands down, my family is my greatest joy.  This was proven again Sunday night when Kenna and Allie decided to come up with a little "surprise" for Jacob and I.  They found a bag of little battery powered tea lights and set them up down the hallway.  Then in their wonderful 6 and 7 year old handwriting they wrote us a little note to go with their display.  Jacob and I had to close our eyes where they led us to the hallway and hollered, "surprise!"  Then with big smiles on their faces they handed us a little note which read:

"When the lights twinkle, it means we triple love you Mom and Dad."

Now if that is not absolute joy right there, I don't know what is.  These are the moments I need to remember.  The moments that make it all worth it.  Because without the misery, I would never know TRUE joy.

What else brings me joy?  Having two little ladies who can sit down and read together:

Listening to all the giggles that come when it's 4 against 1:

Seeing my little clan snuggle together to get a picture together:

Yep, JOY.

October

I thought about doing a big long post about all the wild adventures we've had between July and now.

And well I'm done thinking about it.  I'm going to cut my losses and move on.

So that brings us to last weekend.  Every year down here there is a Livestock Festival that includes a parade with tractors, horses, and a grand finale of a big herd of sheep trotting down main street leaving a layer of chocolate chips behind them.  We usually go in to watch, but since Jacob works in the Ag realm we decided to do a little marketing and have some fun by being in the parade this year.  It was our first year so we didn't do anything fancy or crazy by any means, but we had fun practicing our elbow-elbow-wrist-wrist princess hand waves.  And of course a large thank you to Bob and Wendy for getting our rig safely down main street.  Many thanks to me for not getting a picture of the entire parade crew.  Honorary mention to Lexi Lou who got to stay home with a babysitter.  It was all for the best.

Of course the night before Halloween isn't complete without a good pumpkin carve!  Jacob was out in Nevada for work so missed out on the extravaganza, but we had fun holding the fort down.  By the time we're done we manage to have sticky, stringy, gooey pumpkin innards all over the kitchen, but I just can't seem to help myself from doing it every year!  First item of business:  restrain the baby.

(Speaking of baby:  just to clear up any misunderstanding, this sweet little angel is a GIRL.  Contrary to a myriad of good-meaning individuals in the general public who often refer to her as a boy.  She just struggles in the hair growing department!  Sigh.)

Let the carving begin!  I had to keep my eye on fearless Ty.  He thought he could just hack into his punkin with a butter knife.  Not the best idea.  I did NOT want the pumpkin fun to come to a screeching halt with a trip to the ER.

Serious business:

After every successful pumpkin carve comes a nice round of piggy-back rides:
And yes, despite Ty wearing pink boots, he is a BOY.  We have issues.

Here we are getting ready to hit the streets for some Halloween loot:

A little self-pose action from Kenna (aka Draculaura):

And don't forget the cutest little feline on the block, Miss Allie Gal (aka Hello Kitty):

And to top it all off, our glowing display:

Another Halloween down for the record books!

M.I.A

Oh dear.  Oh dear dear dear.  I believe this just may be the loooooongest gap between posts I've ever had.  We're still alive and kicking, and plenty has happened in the last two months.  School has started and is rolling right along.  Allie had her 6th birthday.  Jacob changed jobs.  My parents came home from their wonderful mission, hooray!  Ty is POTTY TRAINED!  Oh yes this is one happy mama to have only one in diapers now! Lexi's first official word (other than ma or da) was "ush" for brush- toothbrush.  Seems as though my little toddler cares deeply about her oral hygiene.  "Ush" was soon followed up by "poop."  I tell ya, my children are brilliant.  Genius.  Miss Lexi also had a visit to the opthamologist and is scheduled in a few weeks to get her tear ducts opened up.  We won't miss her constant teary and goopy eyes.

It seems as though I haven't even downloaded the pics off my camera for a few months either so I am not even posting a picture.  Hey, at least my children wear clean underwear.  Most of the time.

Hopefully I will soon (mind you the word "soon" is a relative term) get back into the blog groove.  Until then, this will have to do for a quick steal-a-moment update.

Love,
Busy Mom
