We have a certain member of the family who feels a little left out of everything because she's the baby. She HATES when someone goes outside and she gets stuck in the house. Well, this time she made sure she got in on the action. Let there be no confusion- Lexi is in no way deterred by any weather condition. Outside is where she wants to be!
You can't blame her when there are giant snowballs involved:
Everybody smile! Um, Lexi? You okay? Can someone help out Lexi please?

Ballerinas
My little dancers had their first ballet performance this weekend!
Seriously, these are the cutest little ballerinas you ever did see:
I love these two get so share so many things. Jacob and I beamed with pride watching our little ladies perform. Way to go girls!

That's what you get...
On a shopping excursion last week with Ty and Lexi, I wanted to squeeze in just one more stop before it was time to head home. I knew they both were getting tired and hungry. But just one- I just needed to make one more stop!
So perhaps it really was my own fault I ended up spending an extra $5.50 on peanut butter bars I had no intention of buying:
One word for you: Ty. Ty took matters into his own hands.
So Britt, that's what you get. That's what you get when you take a hungry toddler in for just one more stop.

JOY
The speaker in Sacrament meeting on Sunday added a little funny in his talk that made me giggle. He was quoting 2 Nephi 2:23 which talks about Adam and Eve. Had they remained in the Garden, "they would have had no children...having no joy, for they knew no misery.." He chuckled as he agreed that children are often synonymous with misery. And well, considering he and his wife have 8 children under the age of 12, it's understandable!
Let's be honest, children are work. A LOT of work. And while we're on the honesty kick, we'll just add that parenting is often a bit on the miserable, pull-your-hair-out, exasperating, blood-boiling side. That's why all the parents in the audience giggled along with me! However, I love that in the scripture the word used first is the word joy. Yes, hands down, my family is my greatest joy. This was proven again Sunday night when Kenna and Allie decided to come up with a little "surprise" for Jacob and I. They found a bag of little battery powered tea lights and set them up down the hallway. Then in their wonderful 6 and 7 year old handwriting they wrote us a little note to go with their display. Jacob and I had to close our eyes where they led us to the hallway and hollered, "surprise!" Then with big smiles on their faces they handed us a little note which read:
"When the lights twinkle, it means we triple love you Mom and Dad."
Now if that is not absolute joy right there, I don't know what is. These are the moments I need to remember. The moments that make it all worth it. Because without the misery, I would never know TRUE joy.
What else brings me joy? Having two little ladies who can sit down and read together:
Listening to all the giggles that come when it's 4 against 1:
Seeing my little clan snuggle together to get a picture together:
Yep, JOY.

October
I thought about doing a big long post about all the wild adventures we've had between July and now.
And well I'm done thinking about it. I'm going to cut my losses and move on.
So that brings us to last weekend. Every year down here there is a Livestock Festival that includes a parade with tractors, horses, and a grand finale of a big herd of sheep trotting down main street leaving a layer of chocolate chips behind them. We usually go in to watch, but since Jacob works in the Ag realm we decided to do a little marketing and have some fun by being in the parade this year. It was our first year so we didn't do anything fancy or crazy by any means, but we had fun practicing our elbow-elbow-wrist-wrist princess hand waves. And of course a large thank you to Bob and Wendy for getting our rig safely down main street. Many thanks to me for not getting a picture of the entire parade crew. Honorary mention to Lexi Lou who got to stay home with a babysitter. It was all for the best.
Of course the night before Halloween isn't complete without a good pumpkin carve! Jacob was out in Nevada for work so missed out on the extravaganza, but we had fun holding the fort down. By the time we're done we manage to have sticky, stringy, gooey pumpkin innards all over the kitchen, but I just can't seem to help myself from doing it every year! First item of business: restrain the baby.
(Speaking of baby: just to clear up any misunderstanding, this sweet little angel is a GIRL. Contrary to a myriad of good-meaning individuals in the general public who often refer to her as a boy. She just struggles in the hair growing department! Sigh.)
Let the carving begin! I had to keep my eye on fearless Ty. He thought he could just hack into his punkin with a butter knife. Not the best idea. I did NOT want the pumpkin fun to come to a screeching halt with a trip to the ER.
Serious business:
After every successful pumpkin carve comes a nice round of piggy-back rides:
And yes, despite Ty wearing pink boots, he is a BOY. We have issues.
Here we are getting ready to hit the streets for some Halloween loot:
A little self-pose action from Kenna (aka Draculaura):
And don't forget the cutest little feline on the block, Miss Allie Gal (aka Hello Kitty):
And to top it all off, our glowing display:
Another Halloween down for the record books!

M.I.A
Oh dear. Oh dear dear dear. I believe this just may be the loooooongest gap between posts I've ever had. We're still alive and kicking, and plenty has happened in the last two months. School has started and is rolling right along. Allie had her 6th birthday. Jacob changed jobs. My parents came home from their wonderful mission, hooray! Ty is POTTY TRAINED! Oh yes this is one happy mama to have only one in diapers now! Lexi's first official word (other than ma or da) was "ush" for brush- toothbrush. Seems as though my little toddler cares deeply about her oral hygiene. "Ush" was soon followed up by "poop." I tell ya, my children are brilliant. Genius. Miss Lexi also had a visit to the opthamologist and is scheduled in a few weeks to get her tear ducts opened up. We won't miss her constant teary and goopy eyes.
It seems as though I haven't even downloaded the pics off my camera for a few months either so I am not even posting a picture. Hey, at least my children wear clean underwear. Most of the time.
Hopefully I will soon (mind you the word "soon" is a relative term) get back into the blog groove. Until then, this will have to do for a quick steal-a-moment update.
Love,
Busy Mom

A Day to Remember
Oh Connie's wedding. Ooooooohhhhh Connie's wedding! Excuse me, Connie and Dustin's wedding. Guess it kinda takes two....
To sum it up it was absolutely perfectly pleasantly lovely.
We all had been looking forward to the big day, but the girls were especially excited to be honorary members of the wedding party, aka flower girls.
Here's the backdrop. Take note there is not a soul in sight. No one wanted to step foot outside until absolutely necessary seeing as though they just might melt into a heaping puddle. It. Was. HOT. Beautiful nonetheless!
The afternoon started of with a brief rehearsal, then family gathered for a pre-wedding luncheon. Maybe I should have remembered BEFORE the massive helping of amazing dutch oven potatoes that I still had to squeeze into my wedding attire for the ceremony. Shucks. Then the moment we all were waiting for-- the wedding party ready to march! Yes, real flowers for the girls to throw! A little girls' heaven! With the exception of Miss Kylie, who decided she would keep each and every last petal to herself. Ha!
Ty, being the lone nephew old enough to walk, had the distinction of being the ring bearer. He loved it! Here's a closer look at his little responsibility:
The ceremony was beautiful, performed by Dad Israelsen. Here is the Ty Man in action. He took this role very seriously and performed with precision!
Mr. and Mrs. Eastman! YAY!
Connie and her flower girls. They all looked so incredibly darling. And the bride- oh my word. She was stunning. She looked like she walked right out of a magazine. So beautiful!
The wedding would have most certainly fallen to pieces if it weren't for this handsome lil' dude (wink, wink):
This little lady decided she wasn't too big on the whole celebration bit. But she looks like such a cute little lemon custard wrapped in an orange peel! Needless to say, she had a nap. Whew for us.
At first glance, you might think Ty is going in for a choke-hold:
Have no fear! This mini Casanova is simply going in for a smooch!
...Again, and again, and again...they thought it was hilarious! It didn't help that the rest of us standing around were laughing at them too. There must have just been a lot of love in the air. I love the neck hold. He's so suave! I can't WAIT to hear what these two have to say about this when they're teenagers.
The rest of the evening was spent keeping the kids from getting entirely drenched in this:
We were only somewhat successful. Even Lexi woke up and joined in the fun:
At last the seemingly never-ending line died down and the happy couple were ready to be on their way via a tunnel of sparklers. Here is Kenna getting ready to bid the bride and groom farewell:
So fun!
Some people throw flowers at weddings. Us? Well, we like to throw our kids.
But no need to worry, there was no harm done:
Sorta.
All in all it was a PERFECT day! Thank you Connie and Dustin for letting us be part of your amazing day. We are so happy for you!!
And just in case you haven't seen quite enough pictures to do your ol' ticker some good, here are a few more from the reception in Woodruff the following evening:
Yep. Proud mama right here.

Summer...in a nutshell
So school starts in less than 2 weeks. Yep. Summer is just about over. That means I have nearly a whole summer's worth of blogging to do.
On your mark....
....get set....
...GO!
Our Mr. Ty Man turned the big THREE! Hooray for Ty! I won't lie, we didn't do much. But he loved being told all day long it was his birthday and being the special dude of the house. Now he just likes to continue it on and say everything is for his birthday. Here he is with some gifts. And of course I didn't even take a picture of the little t-ball set we gave him until about a week later...just scroll down:
We just extended the celebrations into the following day for Jacob. Happy 33rd Jacob! And once again, my mad photo-taking skills failed me because this is the one and only picture I got for Jacob's big day:
A sweet little note from Kenna that says, "Thank you Dad. Dad thank you so much for doing work for us. You're the best dad ever. Love, Kenna." Pretty darn sweet! Just for the record, I DID hang some streamers, I DID hang up some balloons, I DID put out a fun little birthday tablecloth, and I DID make a nice big birthday dinner. I did NOT take a picture. Eh. Just use your imagination for a visual.
We have had a handful of afternoons running through the sprinklers. Here is one early evening while out getting wet. Even Lexi got to join in on this one:
We ventured out to the 4th of July parade:
And I finally got a pic of Ty with his t-ball set:
We took a little road trip up to Nephi for the Ute Stampede Rodeo. Here we are checking out the rides before the rodeo started:
Lexi just got to ride the stroller. But she seems ok with it! (For a few minutes, anyway).
My two handsome cowboys:
One of my favorite things about this parade is when the Amerian flag comes in via parachute. Love it!
Then a crew of men in their military fatigues rush in to pick it up:
It gets me teary-eyed every time:
And hey, look at that! We got to have Aunt Marlene come with us! It made the night:
Yee Haw! Let the games begin!
A man named "The One-Armed Bandit" performed. I have seen him before and love to watch him. Yes, that is a one-armed man standing on top of his horse. Said horse is on top of the trailer. Not to mention prior to standing on his horse, he herded two full size buffalo up on top of the trailer as well. So amazing!
We went into the rodeo knowing we were toting along a one-year-old, so it was no surprise she didn't quite make it through the whole thing. But, we got to see most of the exciting stuff and called it a night. Hope we can make it again next year!
That should catch us up a little bit anyway. Up next: Connie's wedding!
