Trucking Along

35 weeks and 4 days.  But who's counting?

Um.  ME.  I feel it.  I feel large.  I feel akward.  I need to sit down.  Lots.  I try avoid bending over if at all possible.  But then again I have a 22 month-old so my efforts often prove in vain.  Thank heavens he still has a really good nap every afternoon.  It is becoming my salvation.  Oh wait.  I have two other children.  Those poor girls are probably feeling so neglected.  I really am not a fun mom lately.  I try, really I do.  But this wee one who likes to roll her wee little body all around inside my not-so-wee body is becoming pretty much all-consuming.  Did I really do this 3 times before?

I think I can, I think I can....

I really need to blog about our past two weekends.  Weekend 1 we LOVED having Grandma and Grandpa Israelsen come down for a visit.  The time went entirely too fast.  As always we were sad to see them head home.  And I am incredibly ashamed to say I didn't take a single picture.  Not a one!  Pathetic.  Grandpa and Dad got a good start on the girls' fort out back.  Grandma spent a large majority of her time reading and playing games with two little girls who ate up every bit of her love and attention.  And I of course had someone help do dishes and let me take a beautiful nap.

Weekend 2 we got to see Aunt Connie and Aunt Marlene while they spent some time down in St. George.  We love having family!  Seeing as though it's a good 4-5 hour trip, we feel pretty special when family stops in for a visit.

I am pretty certain there are other things I'm forgetting.  My brain is only semi-functional.  That's better than completely non-functional, right?  The cup is half full!  Just like the constant state of my bladder.

Complications

No, I'm not having complications with my pregnancy. Rather, pregnancy became the complication.

Let me explain.

I got the flu last Thursday. Yes, the flu. Horrible, nasty. Yucka from the top of my belly to the very bottom. So what happens when you have a baby in between it all? MISERY. Sheer misery. My stomach, I'm afraid, is stuck somewhere up in my ribs. Everything else is pushed way down down down to the other end. So when the top is smooshed and churning, and the bottom is smooshed and churning, the very last thing you want is for a baby to be in the middle to use it all as a punching bag. Oh, the horror. The only good thing about it was that it lasted less than 48 hours. Otherwise I'm quite sure I wouldn't be alive to even blog about it. Thank you THANK YOU my dear husband for taking yet another day off of work to take care of me. I never did blog about throwing my back out a few weeks ago.....I'm falling apart!

Well, I got everything all washed and cleaned and was looking forward to having a Sunday with my husband home for the WHOLE DAY. The whole day! No meetings! Sundays are one of our busiest days of the week, so it was a sweet little nugget of goodness I wanted to love every minute of. Just a nice Sunday to relax and enjoy General Conference together.

I was really looking forward to this.

That was until about 5:45 Sunday morning when my poor Jacob came down with the same bug. Oh for crying out loud! Is there no rest for the weary!

Nope.

Poor guy. It was merciless. At least by Sunday evening he was doing much better.

General Conference. Alone. With 3 kids. I deserve a medal. A gold medal. I even listened to it. And so did my girls! Do you know what that means? You should believe in angels, because I sure do.

And good riddance to last weekend. May I NEVER have the flu being complicated with pregnancy again.

Oh, and be VERY glad I have no pictures to post on this one.

He he he.

Back Track

The first of March we were lucky enough to have Uncle Seth and Uncle Benson come down for a visit. We love having family come for a visit, and the girls were SO excited awaiting the arrival of some Uncles. Of course the girls weren't the only ones excited with anticipation, Jacob himself was definitely looking forward to a weekend with some brothers. About every 5-10 minutes on the afternoon they were coming I heard from the girls, "when will they be here?" When it was about the time that they should have pulled in, Kenna was keeping a close vigil at the window just waiting and waiting for them to come. At one point she decided she just couldn't stand the wait any longer so she stomped away from the window and said, "FINE! I just can't wait anymore! I'm leaving! They might as well just not come!" When they FINALLY arrived she was a happy little girl again.

The only concern the girls had was that they might be the victims of some tickling, so together they devised a plan. They determined that if the Uncles tried to tickle, they would counterattack with kisses. It just made me smile! They know that when they try to give kisses to their Uncles (primarily Jacob's unmarried brothers) they inevitably cause the boys to blush and almost instantly surrender. It didn't take too long into our weekend for the girls to give their Uncles a fair warning about tickling and the definite consequence that would ensue. Those two little ladies discovered their plan worked and they had the advantage- they didn't worry too much about being tickled that weekend! Smart little ladies, I must say.

It shouldn't be any surprise that Jacob had a mile-long list of projects the Uncles got to help him on. They spent the majority of their time at the farm doing all sorts of things. Friday night was a bit of a freeze-out, but fortunately Saturday warmed up a bit so they could enjoy being outside. Here is the crew getting ready to head out and to do a little of this and a whole lot of that on the farm:

I have to insert that as soon as I pulled out the camera, Seth mumbled something under his breath about becoming subjects of "the blog." Don't you worry Uncle Seth, it may have taken me a month, but you and Bensie made it on the blog! Take it as a compliment we loved having you come to visit. Just look at those dashing Israelsen boys. They get their good looks from their eldest brother (who is another one who just LOVES to see his pictures on the blog. I can't wait to hear about this one):

And of course there is Ty man who doesn't miss a chance to head down to the farm. Just another generation of good looks, I might add. Aaah, I love indulging in a good bias.

Here are the boys in front of the new cattle thing-a-ma-bobber that helps when you're trying to get cattle into the chute. Apparently it's called a tub. A tub? Wha? I'll just stick with thing-a-ma-bobber. That is NOT a tub.

Many thanks to Seth and Benson (and of course with a blessing from Jacob) the girls learned how to barrel down the stairs in their slippery sleeping bags. Here they are at the top ready to cruise on down (ya, pretty amazing posing skills they have):

First up was Allie to go shooting down:

And then Kenna close behind:

It's a good thing they have Uncles and a Dad who let them be adventurous. I'm afraid I stay safely on the conservative side and am probably a bit boring. Between their Dad and I, we hopefully maintain a good balance. Until I come home from grocery shopping this last weekend to find Allie and Jacob way up high on the roof of our bird pen. I quickly scolded Jacob and then had to look away before I threw up.

Thanks Uncles for a great weekend! Please come back! Even though between a million farm chores and 3 energetic little kiddos we wore you out. But we're worth it, right? Right.

Ty FYI

This is Ty:

Yes, I know. Quite possibly the most handsome little fella that ever existed. His smile is absolutely contagious. He has the silliest and cutest mannerisms. Pretty much he has Mom and Dad wrapped around his little finger. Especially Dad. Or, I guess we should say, "Da." Every morning when I go in to get him from his crib, the first thing he says is, "Da?!" Hmm. Happy to see you to, my love. He LOVES his Daddy. And when it's time to go feed and it's too cold outside so Dad leaves without him, he is absolutely heart-broken.

Here are some things to know about Ty. I've said it before, but he truly is the Tynado. That child is right behind me leaving a wake of destruction in his path. I can't seem to lock up enough stuff. He loves to pull everything out of everywhere. And then of course he throws it. Straight up in the air. He loves to throw things. Anything, really. Sippy cups. Whatever he's eating. Books. Rocks. His glasses.....

....Yep, glasses. Ty got glasses. Looks like we have a VERY dominant farsighted gene wreaking its havoc on our children. The problem here is he is just 21 months old. A 21 month-old who loves to take off his glasses. It has been a bit of a battle. I suppose we'll just keep on keeping on with that one. Good thing he is so cute. He even makes those little blue-rimmed glasses look cute. Here are my darling little 12-eyes:

Ty is a climber. His favorite past-time is climbing. I quite often find him...climbing. Like, on the table:

You can tell by the look on his face that he KNOWS he shouldn't be up there, but is just waiting for mom to come in and find him so he can give me his big mischievous grin. The kitchen is the worst possible place for Ty. He climbs. He pulls everything out of cupboards. He turns on the dishwasher. Over and over and over. Like I said, I just can't lock enough stuff up. Needless to say, Ty often gets banished from the kitchen. Here is how he feels about it:

I know, breaks my wee mama heart.

The bathroom is another GREAT place Ty loves to tear apart. So, once again, he is exiled. But does that stop him? Oh no! He'll just go empty out a laundry basket full of dirty clothes (and of course throw them everywhere) then simply try to climb up and over!

Such an inventive little guy. Laundry is definitely another item we do our best to keep out of his reach.

Our newest problem that I haven't managed to capture on film yet, is the girls' bunk beds. The bunk beds that have a ladder. Ya, you go ahead and let your mind wander on that one. So now the ladder rests on the floor during the day.

What about yogurt? Ty loves him some yogurt. Until he gets bored with it, of course- and is left unsupervised for about 3 minutes. Then it becomes a fabulous finger paint. Or quite possibly even some hair gel. I am so sad that my camera is having issues downloading this picture to my computer. Just imagine Ty sitting at the table in his little chair, his hair plastered to his head with yogurt.

Dear Ty, we simply can't imagine life without you! We take you yogurt and all.

The Difference Between Boys and Girls

I love my girls.

I love my little guy.

I love they are each so unique.

But there are some differences. Take, for example, large "toys." Girls tend to go for things a bit more on their level. Something manageable. You know, something a bit more modest for their size. Here we have Kenna in the first picture and Allie in the second. :

Now what about Ty? Well, that must be a boy thing. They sometimes seem to bite off a bit more than they can chew:

I hope it's a phase.

I have serious doubts.

Miracles.....

.....I'm a believer.

I have offered many prayers of gratitude for the miracle that after 4 treatments of chemo, my mom's scans have come back clear.

CLEAR.

Amazing.

Now I am just beyond excited for my parents to return to really start making serious plans about going on a mission.

What better way to offer gratitude than to simply go and serve? I love it.
